8 Week Course

Our 8-week course is a great way to learn the art of jewellery making step by step. You’ll attend one 3-hour class each week at our St Albans studio, where you’ll design and make your own silver jewellery with expert guidance.

what to expect?

Complete beginners will focus on a new project each week, starting with simple designs creating their own handmade finished jewellery by the end of the course. New techniques and equipment will be introduced as your projects progress. You will cover core techniques such as measuring, sawing, texturing, filing, forming metal to setting stones, polishing and finishing your pieces.
If you have some prior experience, but have forgotten some of the techniques, we can help get you back on track and move forward with your own projects by demonstrating appropriate techniques. This course offers the opportunity to work at your own pace in a friendly and supportive workshop environment. All tools and equipment are provided. If you have your own materials, please bring them with you. Alternatively, materials can be purchased at the studio.

You will receive a full 24 hours of dedicated, small group, expert tuition. This will take place over 8 weeks, with one 3-hour class per week, between 10am and 1pm.
Classes take place on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. You will be able to choose one of those days, and will attend that same day for the duration of the 8 weeks.

Taster Workshops

Our Taster Workshops are the perfect introduction to jewellery making; a relaxed, hands-on session where you’ll create a beautiful piece of silver jewellery to take home the same day. No previous experience is needed, just curiosity and a love of craft.

what to expect?

If you are a complete beginner, you will learn the basic techniques of silversmithing, such as measuring, cutting, shaping, soldering, texturing, filing, and polishing. You will be guided through each stage, from preparing your design to finishing and polishing your final piece.
If you have jewellery making experience and would like a refresher or some advice to progress your own ideas, the taster classes are ideal; please get in touch and we can advise. Expect a friendly, creative atmosphere and plenty of individual support throughout.

Workshops typically run for three or five hours, offering a focused and inspiring introduction to working at the jeweller’s bench.
All tools and materials are provided, so simply turn up ready to make something unique. Classes take place on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday mornings from 10am to 1pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 3pm.

Sunday Classes

Our Sunday classes are ideal if you would like to enjoy jewellery making without committing to a full weekday course. Sunday classes are perfect for beginners who would like to try making a piece of silver jewellery, as well as for intermediate and advanced makers who want to work on their own projects and build on their existing skills.
Complete beginners can follow our suggested projects until they feel confident to work on their own ideas and designs.

what to expect?

On each visit, beginners typically focus on one or two of our nine beginner projects. Each project involves different techniques and equipment, including measuring, texturing, filing, stone setting, forming, and polishing. Example projects include rings, earrings, textured pendants, stone-set rings, and bangles. Those with experience are encouraged to work on their own projects.
You will receive expert guidance throughout, with time to work at your own pace in a calm, creative environment.

Classes run on scheduled Sundays throughout the year and last five hours, from 10am to 3pm. Dates are noted below.
All tools are supplied, and silver for your project is included if you are attending a taster class. It is a great way to spend a Sunday and leave with something truly personal and handmade.
